The Communist Party of India, Manipur State Council (CPI-MSC) has called for the resignation of Chief Minister N Biren Singh on moral grounds, following a meeting held at Irawat Bhawan on Saturday.
CPI-MSC disparaged the government’s alleged failure to resolve a prolonged crisis that has been persisting for 15 months, which includes issues of killings, arson, and the blockade of National Highways, stated a release.
CPI condemned the recent burning of newsprint and other printing materials on August 7 in Kangpokpi, calling it a disgrace for the chief minister, it mentioned.
The party further alleged N Biren Singh of showing an ineffective response to attacks on oil tankers and ambushes on his convoys along NH-37 by Kuki militants.
Accusing both the Chief Minister and the Speaker of refusing to discuss measures to restore normalcy in the state during the Assembly session, the CPI questioned the chief minister’s motive for allegedly ignoring discussions on finding a solution, it added.
CPI further demanded the convening of an all-party meeting to formulate a strategy and engage with the Prime Minister and Union Ministers to restore peace and normalcy in Manipur.
