The Communist Party of India, Manipur State Council (CPI-MSC) on Monday decried the statements made by the Mizoram Chief Minister and an MP, advocating the Kuki's demand for separate administration, stating that doing so will not end the ongoing strife in the state.
CPI-MSC sssistant secretary M Joykumar Luwang, in a release, vehemently condemned the statements and said that the same is rubbing salt in the wounds.
It reminded the Mizoram CM and MP of Manipur's long and unique history since 2,000 years ago, despite the state being merged to India. It further said that the same does not imply discriminating the nomadic Mizo and Kuki tribes.
It lamented over the alleged ignorance of the Mizoram CM towards the rules and orders of the Indian constitution as well as the alleged inability of the double engine government to take up necessary legal actions on the same.
The party also demanded necessary actions against the Mizoram MP for making such remarks and allegedly attempting to disintegrate the state, it stated. It appealed to the Union Home Minister to pay heed to the demand.
It urged those concerned not to interfere in the state of affairs and cross the line. It also expressed high regard for the Indian Constitution and democracy and highlighted the Party's efforts to save it.
It further maintained that CPI MP's will extend support to INDIA Bloc's move to raise demand for resolving Manipur crisis in the ongoing Parliament session. It added that the MPs of the state will also raise the Jiribam massacre incident in the session.
CPI-MSC has also sent the relevant documents regarding the crisis via online to CPI Headquarters, Ajoy Bhavan, it added. It further mentioned the party's relentless efforts to resolve the crisis under its slogan 'Save Manipur, Save Humanity', ever since the conflict erupted.
