CPI, Heirok local council condemns attack on journalist

Manipur CPI leader L Sotinkumar stated that the use of muscle and money power by the intending candidates of the upcoming 12th Manipur state assembly election is a huge breach to democracy.

The Manipur Communist Party of India, Heirok Local Council in a meeting on Thursday condemned the assault on a journalist by miscreants on October 24.

A release by CPI, Heirok local council stated that the meeting was attended by national executive member of CPI M Nara Singh and state secretary of CPI, L Sotinkumar.

Speaking on the occasion, L Sotinkumar stated the use of muscle and money power by the intending candidates of the upcoming 12th Manipur state assembly election is a huge breach to democracy.

Accusing such candidates of practicing politics for the sake of money and power, he urged the people to unite and fight against such transgressors, it continued.

Condemning the delay of justice by the authority, L Sotinkumar asserted that the miscreants’ attempt to silence the press, which is also known as the fourth estate of democracy, is an assault to the rights of democratic citizens, it added.
