COVID-19 awareness camps held at Shirui, Langtang villages

The one-day awareness camps were organised by aspiring BJP candidate for MLA of 44 -Ukhrul assembly constituency and former national executive member of ST Morcha Asai Somayang Ngakuimiza.

With the objective of making every village under Ukhrul assembly constituency free from Coronavirus, two awareness camps on COVID-19 under the theme of ‘My Booth Corona Free’ were held at Shirui and Langtang villages on Thursday.

The one-day awareness camps were organised by aspiring BJP candidate for MLA of 44 -Ukhrul assembly constituency and former national executive member of ST Morcha Asai Somayang Ngakuimiza. 

Speaking to IFP over the phone, Ngakuimiza said that he decided to organise the camps with the aim of making every village or booth at the assembly constituency free from the virus by ensuring that the public strictly maintain the SOPs issued by the government, and providing a safety net through mass vaccination. It also aims to give voluntary support to the state government and frontline workers in the fight against COVID-19, he said.

The mobilisation events were attended by general secretary (Org) BJP Ukhrul District, Jonah Keishing; general secretary (Admn) BJP Ukhrul District, Jordan Pheiray and ex-president 44 Ukhrul Mandal, David KYS, and presidents and members of the women and youth councils. 

The camps also witnessed the attendance of church leaders of the two villages along with the headman of Langtang village and the two headmen of Shirui village.

The camps ended with the distribution of masks and sanitizers to the attendees.
