The proscribed umbrella organisation Coordination Committee (CorCom) on Sunday announced that it has boycotted Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Manipur on Tuesday by imposing a total shutdown in the state from 1 am of Tuesday till the PM leaves the state.

Medical activities, emergency cases etc. will be exempted from the purview of the total shutdown, CorCom stated in a release signed by its media coordinator M Sak-hen.

Modi is not coming to bring progress for the people and deliver the universal human rights which every citizen of an independent nation deserves, CorCom alleged.

As before, by wearing the masks of democracy, he is coming to execute the usual agenda of extending the colonial rule of India by enslaving the people, it stated. He is here to campaign for the upcoming state assembly election which is scheduled to begin early next year, it added.

For India’s rulers, election is a smokescreen or a tool used to claim before the international community that India is not only a democratic country but the largest democracy in the world, CorCom stated.

Using democracy as a means, India is deceiving the world by pretending to be a fully democratic country and occupying a seat at the United Nations, it further stated.

Through deception, India has managed to get a place at the United Nations Security Council as a Non-Permanent membership as well as secured the position of a chairperson of three sub-committees of the United Nations, it alleged. In truth, India is a country which neither recognises nor respects freedom, it added.

Through Article 370, Jammu and Kashmir which used to enjoy a special status has split apart into two separate entities while Kashmir has been reduced to the status of a union territory.

In Indian Union’s history, reducing a state into a union territory happened for the first time with the Kashmir case, it mentioned.

It further stated that by violating all universal rules, Manipur was forcefully merged into the Indian Union, and its status was reduced at the lowest position until it was recognised as an Indian state on January 21, 1972. But the recognition was made only in name, it added.

AFSPA – 1958 has been imposed in ‘Western Southeast Asia (WESEA)’ including Manipur, Tripura and Meghalaya. Since then, many have martyred in the war for self-determination while many innocent lives killed and tortured, it added.

Among the crimes and violations meted out by the Indian armed forces, the recent Oting incident was one, CorCom stated. So far, no action has been undertaken so far to punish those involved in the incident, it added.

In Manipur, in connection with the fake encounter killing of 1,528 cases, no prosecution sanction has been given to those involved and cases are kept stalled although the court has given its ruling against AFSPA, it mentioned.
