Despite the Manipur government importing essential items, including cooking gas, with security convoys along national highways, the price of cooking gas has soared as high as to Rs 2,500 per cylinder in Imphal black market per refill.

Due to prolonged disturbances on national highways by Kuki-Zo in Manipur, the supply of cooking gas has drastically decreased in recent months in Imphal.
