Construction worker shot dead in Kakching

According to police, at around 6.45 pm two armed miscreants entered the residence of construction workers and shot at them from a close range.

A local construction worker was shot dead and another injured after miscreants opened fire at them in a residence at Kakching Wairi Leishangthem Pareng under Kakching Police Station in Kakching district on Thursday, sources said.

According to police, the incident took place at around 6.45 pm when the two armed miscreants entered the residence of the labourers and shot at them from a close range. The labourers are employed for brick-laying work and six of them have been residing at the rented house owned by one Naorem Chaoba.

Police further said that the deceased was identified as one Madan Yadap, 30, son of Sipujan Yadap from Paksmi Champaran district in Bihar. The injured labourer has been identified as one Bharat Yadap, 35, from Paksmi Champaran district in Bihar.

He sustained a bullet injury on the left side of his stomach. He is currently being treated at Jiban Hospital Kakching and said to be out of danger. In connection with the incident, police have registered a case and launched an investigation to nab the culprits.
