Congress party will return to power with absolute majority: Manipur Congress leader Gaikhangam Gangmei

Manipur Congress party leader Gaikhangam Gangmei filed his nomination as an INC candidate from 54-Nungba assembly constituency.

Gaikhangam Gangmei, member of the Congress Working Committees, filed his nomination as an INC candidate from 54-Nungba assembly constituency in Manipur on Wednesday and said the party will return to power.

"The Congress party will get absolute majority in the forthcoming Manipur Assembly Election 2022... It will return to power and form the government as people of Manipur has tasted the rule of the BJP government for five years,” the former deputy chief minister told reporters after filling his nomination paper before returning officer (RO) Ningreingam Leisan.

More candidates filed their nomination papers on Wednesday, including Indian National Congress candidate Dr GN Kamuiteung and Z Kikhonbou from 52-Tamei assembly constituency.

Kikhonbou was accompanied by his chief agent Namkutrangbe Pame and two proposals Lungsu Panmei and Apung Daime. 

In 53-Tamenglong assembly constituency Naga People's Front candidate Khangthuanang Panmei filed his nomination paper before RO Hungyo Warshang, deputy commissioner, Tamenglong.

BJP candidate Huri Golmei also filed his nomination paper. He was accompanied by his chief agent RK Ajin and Romeo Riamei. 

The three assembly constituencies - 52-Tamei, 53-Tamenglong and 54-Nungba assembly constituency will go to polls on second phase on March 3.
