The Congress party must learn to become a responsible opposition during the national crisis and place the nation over politics, BJP spokesperson Wilubou Newmai stated on Sunday.
From opposing lockdowns to demanding lockdowns, and urging to launch a free mass vaccination drive across the country to questioning vaccines, the opposition is leaving no stone unturned in undermining India’ battle against COVID-19, stated a release signed by Wilubou Newmai.
The Congress should stop fooling people about the fuel prices across the country as fuel prices hit record high during the Congress regime. The opposition must accept that people are angry with the Congress, it added.
The release also listed several alleged failures of the then Congress government. It stated that the Congress created disharmony between hills and valleys as the widest gap between hills and valleys was witnessed during the Congress regime.
It stated inauguration of incomplete projects in Jiribam as well as Congress government's attempts to inaugurate incomplete projects in Ukhrul were a failure.
Extra-judicial killings were rampant during Congress tenure, the release further stated, citing Thangjam Manorama Devi in 2004 and Sanjit in 2009 as examples.
The release also alleged the Congress party for cancellation of the selection tests of 2013 for recruiting 2,000 constables.
Media-government relationship rapport was not that good during Congress regime while school and primary health centres in hill districts were in bad shape under Congress rule, it stated.
Congress leader and former chief minister Ibobi Singh could not be accepted as a leader as the hill people did not accept him, it mentioned, adding the party also failed to contain the nefarious activities of undergrounds operating in Manipur.
It failed to address nine tribal individuals killed during the ILP-related bill agitation and the division of Kukis, Nagas and Meiteis were more pronounced during its rule, the release added.
It further alleged that Ibobi Singh gave free hands to his ministers just to protect his chair. Rampant killings of non-local labourers in the valley were witnessed during the Congress regime, it further alleged, adding Ibobi was not efficient in dealing with civil bodies during his tenure as the chief minister.
Blockades and bandhs were very common during his tenure both in the hills and the valley, and mushrooming of underground groups were witnessed in Manipur during the Congress regime.
Academic activities of educational institutions were often disrupted as well due to unrest of the public in one form or the other in Manipur during the Congress regime, it added.
