The Manipuri Students Federation (MSF) on Wednesday appealed to the state government to conduct the entrance test of higher secondary examination online in view of the pandemic and to revoke the cut off marks for admission notified by the schools.

The offline mode of admission process will only result in gathering of the public amid the pandemic, the MSF stated in a release.

The MSF also expressed disappointment over the cut off marks notified by the government higher secondary schools for students belonging to scheduled tribe, scheduled caste, unreserved and other backward classes.

The MSF demanded that the notification for the cut off marks must be revoked as it will be an injustice to the students who had secured lower marks in the recently concluded Board of Secondary Education Manipur examination.

Stating that 47,208 students were declared pass in the BOSEM 2020-21 examination, the release stated that the ‘accumulate capacity’ of the government schools which are preferred by the students should be increased.

In case, the government does not have enough infrastructure, arrangements can be made in other government buildings as well, the release stated.

“Many families have been affected by the pandemic. However, they cannot stop their children from pursuing further education. Therefore, they have to rely on the government schools wherein the admission charges are lesser, it stated.

The MSF also declared that they will begin a survey in the higher secondary schools from Wednesday to see the existing infrastructures.
