Condolences pour in for Kh Sarojini Devi

Kh Sarojini Devi served as secretary, Manipur State Kala Akademi and also as Director of the Department of Art and Culture, Manipur from March 1, 2004 to October 31, 2010, a release stated.

Officers and staff of the Department of Art and Culture, Government of Manipur led by Commissioner (Art and Culture), Government of Manipur M Joy Singh held a condolence meeting on Friday, mourning the untimely demise of retired Director of Art and Culture department Kh Sarojini Devi who passed away on Tuesday.

Attendees observed two-minute silence as a mark of respect to the departed soul during the meeting held at the Conference Hall of the Directorate of Art and Culture, Palace Compound, stated Joint Director, Art and Culture Manipur Mrinashree Mairembam in a condolence message.

Sarojini served as secretary, Manipur State Kala Akademi and also as Director of the Department of Art and Culture, Manipur from March 1, 2004 to October 31, 2010, it stated. Her untimely demise is an irretrievable loss to the state, it stated.

It asserted that her immense contribution towards promotion and preservation of Manipuri art and culture will be long remembered by many generations to come. The Department also shared grief of the bereaved family, it stated.
