CMHT cards will no longer be usable at private hospitals: Manipur Cabinet

IPR Minister S Ranjan said that the cabinet has decided to disable CMHT cards at private hospitals, while remaining health cards will remain applicable.

The Manipur cabinet on Friday decided that the Chief Minister Hakshelgi Tengnang (CMHT) cards will no longer be usable at private hospitals with effect from September 30.

After the cabinet meeting, IPR Minister S Ranjan briefed the media at his residence located at Lamphel Sanakeithel, informing that the cabinet has decided to disable CMHT cards at private hospitals, while remaining health cards will remain applicable. The move is aimed at encouraging the public to receive treatment at government hospitals, he said.

The cabinet also passed an ordinance to amend Manipur Lok Ayukta Act, 2014 by increasing the upper age limit of the chairman and member from 70 years to 72 years. It was decided that eight posts will be created for Manipur Judicial Academy, he said.  

The cabinet approved No Objection Certificate (NOC) for affiliation to CBSE in respect of SV Get well School, he mentioned.

The allotment of lands in favour of director SCERT, Manipur for establishment of DIET, Imphal West and in favour of director Health Services, Manipur for construction of sub-district hospital and primary health centre at Moreh were also decided, he said.

He said that the establishment of a council of ‘The Manipur Ayurveda, Yoga and Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha and Homoeopathy (AYUSH)’ has been decided.

He said that the pay level in respect of the post of consultant (finance/procurement), IDSP under the State Health Department has been decided.

The contractual appointment of MS Khaidem, retired joint director agriculture as consultant oil palm mission, Manipur at Directorate of Agriculture, Manipur under the centrally sponsored scheme of National Mission on Edible Oils-Oil Palm is taken into consideration, he said.

One time relaxation for the post of Secretariat assistant (office assistant) for Manipur Public Service Commission has been decided, he said. The cabinet has also approved the framing of Manipur Teacher Educator Service Rules, 2024, he added.

Extension of contractual engagement of S Nabachandra Sharma as coordinator under Art and Culture department, Manipur has been given, he said.

He said that the amendment of the Chief Minister Entrepreneurship Support Scheme (CMESS) and a special package to successful start-ups for employment of IDPs were  considered. Amendment of CM Farmers Livelihood Support Scheme was also considered in the cabinet, he added.

Further, the activation of the newly established Manipur Electricity Regulatory Commission in pursuance to section 82 of the Electricity Act, 2003 was taken into consideration to have separate commission, he said, adding Mizoram and Manipur were joined together.

In unlisted agendas, the cabinet has decided to hand over  the Manipur Milk Producer Cooperative Union Limited management and handling of the union to the National Dairy Development Board for three years with effect from October 1, he said.

He explained that it is highly necessary to handle milk dairy activities by professionals. Manipur Milk Producer Cooperative Union Limited has no professional manpower, he added.

He also informed that state sponsored coaching for JEE and NEET will give access to various services provided by skilled service providers. State government will sponsor coaching for 30 students for NEET by AAKASH Educational Services Limited and 30 for JEE by FITJEE, he said.

The cabinet has also decided to fill up 149 posts in the directorate of higher education and 14 posts in different categories in the Department of Science and Technology, Manipur, he added.
