The Heirok Apunba Meira Paibi Lup demonstrated a protest against the deployment of Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF) in the area on Sunday at Heirok market in Thoubal district, Manipur.
Meira paibis expressed outrage, likening Chief Minister N Biren to a toothless tiger and condemned his journey to Assam, while labeling him as a ‘half-dead’ man.
Speaking to the media, convenor of Heirok Apunba Meira Paibi Lup Thokchom Sandhyarani condemned the deployment of CAPF in Heirok.
She criticised the central plan to station 50 companies of CAPF in 13 districts of Manipur alleging it as a ‘divide and rule’ policy favouring the Kuki community.
Citing that Heirok has been peaceful and already has a significant BSF presence, she argued against the need for CAPF deployment and asserted that they will resist their presence.

She recalled a recent high-level meeting in Delhi convened by the union home minister on June 17, where N Biren Singh’s absence was notably pointed out, describing it as a deliberate act of humiliation towards him.
She further claimed that conducting combing operations only in valley areas shows the discriminatory treatment towards Meitei by the central government while favouring the Kukis.
She accused the chief minister as a ‘silent spectator’ during the central forces’ targeting to apprehend village volunteers.
Sandhyarani anticipated that Kukis might seek Union Territory status and asserted that the deployment of CAPF in Manipur aims to undermine the Meitei community.
She urged global civil society organizations to assist the Meitei, adding that Kukis spread false propaganda to defame the Meitei community.
