Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh and Governor La Ganesan on Wednesday extended greetings and well wishes to the people of the state especially the Jain community on the occasion of Mahavir Jayanti.
In his message, CM Biren stated that Mahavir was one of the most charismatic and influential spiritual leaders. Mahavir’s message of non-violence, truth, honesty, selflessness and sacrifice are timeless and full of universal compassion, he added. Recalling Mahavir’s teaching of treating all living beings including plants and animals equally with love and respect, he invited the public to imbibe Mahavir’s teachings of peace and nonviolence.
Governor La Ganesan in his message stated that as an apostle of peace and nonviolence, Mahavir showed humanity the path to salvation through love, compassion, mercy and abdication of material elements.
“While celebrating the birth of the apostle of peace, let us rededicate to follow the spiritual and ethical path propounded by him and follow his values of living in harmony and brotherhood,” he stated.
