Amid continued seizures of large amount of drugs in Manipur, Chief Minister N Biren Singh on Thursday called upon the people in the state to extend cooperation and support to the security personnel in the anti-drugs campaign to root out drug menace from all parts of the state.
"Our security personnels are working day and night in the War on Drugs, and I urge all to extend support and cooperate to completely root out the drug menace from the state," Biren said, taking to social media.
In a Facebook post on Thursday, the chief minister said he came across a drug seizure on the way to Sangai Ethnic Park, Moirang Khunou in Bishnupur District on Thursday, and two people have been arrested in the case.
"Came across a drug seizure on the way to Sangai Ethnic Park, Moirang Khunou in Bishnupur District today.
"The team of CDO Bishnupur led by ASI Birendra Aimol assisted by ASI S Ojit, under the supervision of Inspector Shaktishen, OC CDO Bishnupur was conducting regular frisking, and a Jeep compass bearing r/no. MN 01AG 7875 was stopped at around 9 am.
"The driver identified himself as Ngamkholet Lhungdim (30) s/o Holkholun Lhungdim of Phoilen village, Chandel district and passenger Lhingneikim Lhungdim, wife of the above.
"On searching their vehicle, 101 soap cases containing suspected Heroin No 4 was found concealed and seized from the spot. The persons have been arrested and a case is being registered at Bishnupur Police Station," Biren mentioned.
