Pradhan and ward members of Keirao Makting Gram Panchayat, Imphal East alleged the Indigenous Manipuri Muslim Development Organisation (IMMDO) of threatening government officials not to transact wages to job card beneficiaries. They urged Chief Minister N Biren Singh to impose a ban on IMMDO.

Keirao Makting Gram Panchayat former pradhan Juber told the media on the sidelines of a public meeting at Keirao Urup Thongkhong Bazar, Keirao, Imphal on Sunday that around 4-5 miscreants who identified themselves as IMMDO, Keirao Branch members demanded ransom from Keirao Makting GP on Friday in connection with a vigilance case filed against Keirao Makting GP.

Some of the Panchayat representatives had appealed to the officials of the respective Block Development Officer to clear the pending wages of job card beneficiaries, he said.  Responding to the appeal, officials of department concerned came to Keirao Makting GP for verification of beneficiaries from Ward No I – VI on Thursday, he added.

However, one Md Amir Khan and Md Hassan Ali who identified themselves as members of IMMDO told the officials not to continue the verification process if the verification is going to be conducted only for Ward No I-VI. When the officials informed them the verification process is being conducted as per order from the department concerned, the two persons threatened the officials to stop the verification process, he added.

He said the Panchayat members are not related with the department concerned in verification of job card beneficiaries.

Members of IMMDO are not only disrespecting the government order but also giving hindrances in bringing development to the area, said Juber.
