Meitei residents of Churachandpur district, presently taking shelter at relief camps in various parts of the valley on Friday slammed Minister L Susindro over his remark that displaced Meitei people of Churachandpur do not have land patta.
“Don’t spread wrong information without having facts,” Ngariyanbam Ullen Mangang, general secretary of Khumujamba Meitei Leikai Pattadar (Landowner) Association said.
Hitting back at the minister he said, “Your irresponsible remark has hurt all of us who are facing hard times due to the ongoing crisis which is over six months.”
Meitei residents of Churachandpur district were driven out by the Kuki militants and deported to relief camps in Imphal in the name of securing their life by central security forces including AR, after which their villages and homes were bulldozed and razed by the miscreants, he said.
Ullen further said that the landowner association had sent a representation to the then SDO Churachandpur Dharun Kumar on December 15, 2022 for verification of the land patta of the Meiteis at Khumukamba Leikai Churachandpur.
Dharun Kumar is now the Deputy Commissioner of Churachandpur district. Following that The SDC of Churachandpur district in its letter reference number P-136/SR/2022 – CCP/154 have verified the land patta and stated them to be true.
“Minister Susindro should clarify his statement in connection with the land patta holders of the Meitei community of Churachandpur”, Ullen said.
On the other hand, the victims of the ongoing violence whose houses had been bulldozed and razed to the ground also expressed dissatisfaction with the compensation announced for their houses.
He said that ex-gratia of Rs 10 lakh is not enough.
