The Churachandpur BJP Mandal have resolved to halt all forms of party activities until a convincing and satisfactory answer is given to the removal of V Hangkhanlian as minister of Agriculture, Veterinary and Animal Husbandry.

The supporters of Hangkhanlian led by president of Churachandpur (ST) BJP Mandal, Thangmuanlun and its secretary, John Gangte announced the resolution at a workers' meeting at Zenhang Lamka community hall on Monday where they expressed their resentment at dropping of the minister by Chief Minister Biren Singh.

The Churachandpur BJP Mandal said In a release titled ’Our take on the present political scenario’ that the political twists and turns as dictated by the chief minister led to the dropping of his loyal cabinet ministers without any modicum of party discipline.

The Churachandpur BJP Mandal and supporters of Hangkhanlian are shocked beyond words as to why he has to be dropped from his ministerial berth, it added.

It further said that as a senior politician, Hangkhanlian was trusted by the chief minister. He was sent in various capacities, as an emissary, on behalf of the state government to negotiate with certain tribal councils including various civil society organisations. His unstinted role in working for the hill-valley peaceful coexistence is beyond doubt and given the magnanimous role played by him, he has been well recognized by the people of Manipur, it added.

“As a minister of Agriculture, Veterinary and Animal Husbandry, the Churachandpur MLA has been working tirelessly for the betterment and development of his department. His commitment and dedication towards the department has been paid off which has earned him a ‘Krishi Karman Award 2017 2018’. After all these, the Churachandpur BJP Mandal wanted to pose a question; was he dropped from his ministerial berth due to non-performance? Or, was he a victim of political vendetta?”

“It is worth mentioning that Churachandpur district at present in the new scheme of power politics as designed by N Biren Singh is without a minister. This is uncalled for and has seriously hurt the sentiments of the party workers and his supporters. The induction of former Congress MLA into cabinet ministers at the expense of loyal and deserving BJP MLAs has flouted all party norms and conduct. The unearned reward given to such persons who are yet to face election is beyond our grasp and comprehension,” alleged Churachandpur BJP Mandal in the release.

The release, which was forwarded to the national president of BJP, state president and the state chief minister, also stated that the intermittent divisive politics played by N Biren Singh in the district has been a major concern for a long time. His tactical power play amongst the BJP MLAs of the district and his unsettling role in the Autonomous District Council, Churachandpur (ADCC) has worked against the interest of the people of Churachandpur, it added.

“Is the BJP Manipur being loosely run by and at the whims and fancies of Biren Singh?” it further questioned.

Whatever it calls for in the near future, the Churachandpur BJP Mandal and supporters of V Hangkhanlian will stand by the MLA, it said while adding that in case of any eventual decision taken by him and to show their resentment against the authoritarian and manipulative conduct of the state chief minister and to address grievances, the Churachandpur BJP Mandal held the protest meeting.

Churachandpur BJP Mandal have resolved to halt all forms of party activities until a convincing and satisfactory answer is given or a solution to the grievances are properly addressed, the release added.
