Chief Minister Biren visits construction of Sagol Kangjei statue, plans to inaugurate soon

When Biren visited the construction work of the Sagol Kangjei statue on July 7, 2021, he had said that concerned officials had been instructed to complete the statue work by October 2021.

Manipur Chief Minister N Biren on Sunday visited the ongoing construction site of 120 feet tall statue of 'Sagol Kangjei' (Polo) player riding a Pony' at Marjing Hills in Imphal East and said he planned to inaugurate it at the earliest.

"Visited the ongoing construction site of 120 feet tall statue of 'Sagol Kangjei' (Polo) player riding a Pony' at Marjing Hills. Among other tourism projects, this site will be one of a major tourist attractions of Manipur. Planning to inaugurate it at the earliest," Chief Minister Biren tweeted on Sunday.

The construction of the statue was to be completed by October 2021.

It may be recalled that the last time he visited the construction work of the Sagol Kangjei statue on July 7, 2021, the chief minister said concerned officials had been instructed to expedite the work and complete the statue by October 2021.

During the visit, he had said that the construction of the 120 feet high statue was delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Earlier, on Saturday, the chief minister visited the temple of Hiyangthang Lairembi and said he offered prayers for a peaceful and developed Manipur.
