Chandel among best aspirational districts: Union minister Devusinh Chauhan

Not a single village will be left out in the developmental process, Union MoS Devusinh Chauhan said during his visit to Chandel.

Chandel is one of the best districts among the 118 Aspirational districts of the NITI Aayog programme in terms of inclusive growth and living standard, said Union Minister of State for Communication Devusinh Chauhan on Sunday.

Briefing the media after presiding over a review meeting on the implementation of Aspirational District Programme (ADP) for Chandel district at the conference hall of DC Chandel Office, Chauhan said ADP is a holistic approach of the Central government for sustainable and overall development of 118 districts in India.

He expressed satisfaction that the villagers of the district are getting the benefits of the double engine government by grabbing the opportunities of the various beneficiary schemes.

Stating that internet connectivity is the route to development in this IT era, he assured that not a single village will be left out in the developmental process taken up by his ministry.

Lauding the quality of the turmeric powder produced by an SHG in a processing unit at Chandel, the MoS also suggested exporting the product worldwide through e-marketing for better economic generation.

Informing that the spectrum auction for starting the 5G mobile services has already been approved and the process is likely to be completed in the coming August, he announced that the 5G rollout will be felicitated in the same month.

“It will revolutionise the Information and Communications Technology (ICT) scenario in the country and it will play a large role towards achieving the 5 trillion-dollar economy,” he added.

It is expected that fully indigenous 5G mobile networks will be deployed in this year itself; he said, adding that the ministry has also taken steps towards the development of the 6G stack by the end of this decade. India is among the frontline nations in the world in the field of telecommunications, he added.

During the meeting, the MoS apprised the officials to focus on the development of the border areas, stating that tourism can be promoted at the border areas once the basic infrastructures are improved.

He also emphasised the need to eradicate Acute Malnourished symptoms among the children by strengthening the health care system.

Prior to the meeting, the MoS had distributed newly opened accounts to 22 female beneficiaries of Chandel District under the Sukanya Smriddhi scheme at a function held at Post Office, Chandel.

In Manipur, a total of 38,356 Sukanya Smriddhi accounts worth Rs 103.1 crores have been opened in post offices so far and 2,42,897 accounts in Post Payments Bank (IPPB) which is the second largest in the Northeast Region after Assam.

As far as the district is concerned, it has 1096 Sukanya Smriddhi accounts and 14,346 IPPB accounts. As many as 5,274 Aadhaar Enabled Payment System (AEPS) transactions worth Rs 1.7 crore have been done in the district since the inception of the scheme.

Overall IPPB customers of Chandel branch have received DBT worth Rs 1.9 crore since inception and also received more than Rs 32 lakh DBT in 1,645 accounts under PM Kisan Yojana.

The MoS accompanied by the deputy commissioner of Chandel and other DLOs also inspected the project funded by NDB at L Thangkham Village, the Processing Unit under NERCORMP/CDCRM at Liwa Khullen Village and Revival Home at Salemthar Village.
