Centre takes regular reports of Manipur: Governor Anusuiya Uikey

All the stakeholders should cooperate with each other to resolve the crisis in Manipur, Governor Anusuiya Uikey said.

Manipur Governor Anusuiya Uikey on Sunday announced that the ground reports of Manipur are being taken from time to time by the Central leaders and tangible results will be seen soon.

“Steps to resolve the crisis have been taken up by insisting the Central leaders constantly,” she said while speaking to the media on the sidelines of the closing ceremony of ‘15-day Summer Children Theatre Workshop, 2024’ at Manipur Trade and Expo Centre Relief Camp, Lamboi Khongnangkhong, Imphal West.

All the stakeholders should cooperate with each other to resolve the crisis in the state, she said.

The programme was organised by National school of Drama, New Delhi and National School of Drama (TIE Wing),Tripura, in collaboration with Khenjonglang and department of Social Welfare, government of Manipur.

It was organised especially for children in relief camps of the Expo Centre and Temporary Shelter Home, Sajiwa Jail Complex in Imphal East. She interacted with 120 displaced children along with their guardians and distributed certificates for their participation in dancing and painting events during the workshop.

“Every section of society has been affected by the situation in the state. Most importantly women and children have been affected and there is the need to support them with utmost care,” she said.

She stressed that their state of mind has to be relaxed and therefore such theatre workshops will help in this direction. Appreciating the role of Khengjonglang she said that such initiatives will help remove stress from the young minds and foster a good mental back-up to the children.

She asked the theatre group to continue their efforts and assured to extend possible assistance from the Raj Bhavan.

“As children are the future pillars of the nation, facilities like good education, good healthcare etc. have to be delivered to the children. All children are talented and they should be guided and nurtured in their best area of interests”, she said.

She expressed her serious concern over the situation in the state, saying as a guardian of the state, steps to resolve the crisis have been taken up by insisting the Central leaders from time to time.

She appealed to all stakeholders to cooperate with the steps taken up to resolve the crisis and to restore peace and tranquility in the best interest of the people of Manipur.

She said that timely reports are being collected by the central leader, and she also met with the Central leaders to take up steps in priority to solve the crisis of Manipur.

Professor P Gunindro, vice chancellor, Manipur University of Culture; Thaninleima, director, Khenjonglang, director Ng Uttam of Social Welfare department, IDPs attended the closing ceremony.
