Centre extends ceasefire with NSCN (R)

The extension of ceasefire between the Government of India and the ational Socialist Council of Nagaland-Reformation (NSCN-R) will come into effect from April 28.

The Government of India has extended the ceasefire agreement with the National Socialist Council of Nagaland-Reformation (NSCN-R) for another year. The extension will come into effect from April 28. In a statement, additional secretary, Ministry of Home Affairs, Piyush Goyal stated that both the parties have mutually decided to extend the ceasefire “to bring lasting peace in the state of Nagaland with the involvement of Naga people”. The ceasefire will be subject to adherence to ceasefire grounds rules mutually agreed and signed by the two sides, it stated. Ground rules will be subject to mutual review and amendments with the involvement of both parties, it added.
