The Churachandpur District Bar Association (CDBA) on Tuesday expressed shock that on September 10 a few miscreants had allegedly obstructed one of the association's colleagues from meeting with his client and threatened to burn his house.

In a statement, CDBA stated that the association was shocked to learn that a certain group of miscreants had allegedly obstructed one of the association’s colleagues from meeting with his clients. The miscreants had allegedly shouted abusive language at him and even attempted to attack him, it added. It alleged that the miscreants warned the CDBA colleague to not represent this particular client and threatened to burn his house down if he refused to comply.

“It is the fundamental principle of justice that everyone shall be represented,” it stated. It condemned the “high-handed and unethical” incident, and warned the culprits and the general public not to take the law and order into their own hands. Any aggrieved or disgruntled individuals are to seek remedy as per provision of law, it added.

It further conveyed appreciation for the timely intervention of the district police on the incident, and requested the police to “continued rendering their service for the safety of all.”
