A car rally was held on Wednesday to promote the country’s first ever aero sports festival “North East's Aero Sports Hot Air Balloons and Para-motors Fiesta 2023" which will be held from February 11, 2023 in Manipur.
The festival was announced by YAS Minister Govindas Konthoujam on October 28 and is scheduled to be held for seven days at Phubala Public Ground (near Loktak Lake), Bishnupur district.
The festival will be organised by Khasia Ventures in collaboration with the Tourism department, YAS and LDA.
Speaking during the flagging off ceremony of the car rally, LAD chairman M Asnikumar pointed out that the sports scenario of Manipur is evolving with changing times.
Addition of such a new dimension of aero sports, which will be India's first-ever event in the history of the aero-sports category, is a proof, he added.
Stating that the festival is going to be a huge bonanza for adventure sports lovers of the country, he said it will also give the opportunity to put Manipur as a premier adventure sports destination in the country.
Chairman of Khasia Ventures, Y Bully, said given a platform to experience aero sports, the youths will be able to choose a career in aero sports and various extreme and adventurous sports as a future career.
Through this fiesta, the state's tourism expansion and inflow of tourists will be more effective than before, he said, adding this will directly assist in creating an income generating asset for the people of the state.
The car rally was flagged off from Kwakeithel. It will head towards Kakching through Mayai-Lambi and come back towards Imphal from Imphal-Pallel road.
A yearly calendar of 2023 of the Khasia Ventures was also launched prior to the car rally.
