Candidate Totomshana abducted, escapes

No arrest memo or reasons were provided by the people in uniform during Totomshana Nonhshaba's arrest, reports said.

In a shocking turn of events, ex-candidate of the 18th Lok Sabha elections M Totomshana Nongshaba escaped from the captivity of persons cladded in Manipur Police uniforms at Keishampat on Wednesday.

The bizarre series of incidents started when Totomshana was apprehended by the police as he exited Imphal airport after tending personal businesses. 

During his arrest, the police confiscated his phone and took control of his vehicle which had five occupants, as per reports.

The reports further added that no arrest memo or reasons were provided by the people in uniform during his arrest. It also mentioned that the police vehicle had no registration plate or markings to ascertain the authenticity of the vehicle. 

After the arrest, Totomshana was brought in by the police down Tiddim road, when they made the traffic stop at Keishampat Junction area.

According to onlookers, Totomshana jumped out of the police vehicle but was caught again by the tailing police vehicle. Following the debacle, an unassuming crowd started to gather around the two police vehicles and tension escalated between the police and the people.

Amid the chaos, the crowd managed to extricate Totomshana, enabling him to escape safely; Totomshana's small daughter momentarily fainted as a result of the incident. 

On the other hand, news of Totomshana's safely reaching Heirok started surfacing on social media by the time of filing this report.
