Call for indefinite blockade of Tongjei Maril road

The state government assured that the compensation would be sanctioned before December 2020 but it has not materialised its assurance till date, the Hills Land ownership Compensation Demand Association said on Sunday.

The Tongjei Maril (Old Cachar Road) road will be blocked indefinitely until compensations are sanctioned and their demands fulfilled, announced the Hills Land ownership Compensation Demand Association on Sunday.

The state government assured the association that the compensation would be sanctioned before December 2020 in a memorandum signed between the association and the state government on September 20 this year, stated a release.

However, the state government has not materialised its assurance till date, it stated. As such, the association has decided to block the road, it added.
