CADA protests against liquor legalisation

Coalition Against Drugs and Alcohol (CADA) on Sunday demonstrated a sit-in protest at Irengbam Mamang Makha Leikai Community Hall, Bishnupur district demanding the state government to withdraw the legalisation of liquor in the state.

A release by CADA stated that CADA along with All Manipur Women Social Reformation and Development Samaj (Nupi Samaj) and Irengbam Mamang Makha Nupi Lup demonstrated the protest demanding the state government to withdraw the legalisation of liquor in various parts of the state during a cabinet meeting on September 20, 2022.

During the protest, the protesters displayed placards which read ‘Withdraw legalisation of liquor’, ‘Will “good liquor” prevent crimes’, ‘What is a “good Liquor”?’ and ‘Why are liquors legalised during the War on Drugs is ongoing?’ etc.
