A worker of the Sawombung New Bridge construction under Imphal East died of electrocution at around 3.10 pm Friday, sources said.
The deceased has been identified as one Taphazun Huisen, 45, son of (L) Abdul Kadir of Uttar Karahgusi Nagao under Dhing Police station in Assam, police said.
The police said the accident occurred when Taphazun was working with concrete using an iron rod. The iron rod came into contact with an electric wire and he was electrocuted. He was rushed to JNIMS but died on the way to hospital, the sources added.
Lamlai Police Station has registered a case in connection with the incident and a post mortem was conducted on the body at JNIMS.
