Former state BJP spokesperson Ch Bijoy on Sunday warned that the frequent poll violence in the state such as bomb blast at the residence of politicians is an early stage of ‘political terrorism’ and if it is not controlled, it could lead to West Bengal-like political violence.

Addressing the media at his residence at Lamphel, Imphal West, Bijoy informed that on Friday a bomb exploded at his residential gate while another exploded at the residential gate of National People’s Party candidate of Khurai assembly constituency, L Jayananda early morning of February 24.

He said that as per CCTV footage, the two bombs seem to be similar as they were triggered with a firing rope. However, no splinters were found during the blasts. Bijoy informed that concerned police officers are investigating the incident.

“If political pressure is not given during the investigation, then the investigation could go through Nityaipat Chuthek to Ningthem Pukhri Mapal and how much the investigation could go depends on the concerned investigation officer”, Bijoy expressed.

If ‘political terrorism’ is not controlled in time, then there could be further and more severe impact on the people in the next assembly election of Manipur.

Bijoy said the recent bomb attack on him was an extension of five years ‘cat campaign’ government where voice of people was suppressed. There is no political or individual enmity with any individuals or organisation however, after he was expelled from State BJP, he used to voice against the present scenario of politics at different platforms.

He alleged that the attack on him was done by some individuals who wanted to silence him, Bijoy said, adding that people are already aware that some rogue elements are loitering freely under political patronage. Severe ‘gang war’ having political backing could be witnessed in the near future if such rogue elements are not kept behind bars while people are relieved with ‘fake encounters’, the former BJP chief spokesperson said.

Bijoy said that the present ideology on management and administration of State BJP is contrary to which was founded by the central BJP founder. In the BJP core agenda ‘abuse to none’ is included clearly however, as per reports from media, AICC election observer had expressed earlier that BJP tried to abuse some militants who are under SoO. It is even reported in the media that, BJP in conspiracy with NSCN-IM, physically assaulted an NPP candidate in the Chandel assembly constituency, he added.

He alleged that in the last 5 years governance people witnessed the act of vulgarity and display of goondaism while people were expecting good governance.

A leader may have political rival but the leader should give equal treatment irrespective of friend or enemy, Bijoy said and added that 12th Manipur Legislative Assembly election has ended and while selecting a representative, it should be selected by taking the consent of people by monitoring the political background instead of giving priority to money or advertisement.
