Bomb blast in Ukhrul

A bomb exploded inside the Mini Secretariat Complex at Hamleikhong under Ukhrul Police Station in Ukhrul district.

Miscreants exploded a lower power bomb inside the Mini Secretariat Complex at Hamleikhong under Ukhrul Police Station in Ukhrul district around 4.30 pm on Tuesday. 

According to police, the bomb exploded near a drain. However, no splinters from the bomb were found and there were no damages as well. Ukhrul Police Station has registered a case in connection with the incident.

Earlier on Monday, a powerful, remote controlled IED allegedly planted by miscreants was found near the office gate of Phungreitang PHED under Ukhrul Police Station in Ukhrul district on Monday.

A suspicious looking polybag was found earlier at the spot, after which SP Ukhrul na SP (CID/Tech) requested to send a Bomb Disposal Squad (BDS). A team from Imphal arrived at Ukhrul in the evening.

The team successfully picked the bomb from the spot around 7.30 am on Tuesday. As per bomb experts, the IED is remote controlled and weighed around 3.5 kg. 

The IED was made of one circuit board used for radio control mechanism,  one electric detonator, one 12 Volt battery, explosive of TNT about 600 gm, one tin container and splinters.

The bomb was safely disposed of near Central Jail located at Ukhrul -Jesami road around 8.30 am.
