A dead body was found near Chandel Petrol pump under Chandel Police Station on Friday, sources said.
The identity of the deceased person is yet to be ascertained, the police said.
Meanwhile, the Naga Students' Union Chandel (NSUC) has raised allegations that the body was dumped at the said area and expressed strong condemnations against the act.
The NSUC said it is suspected that the highly decomposed body was either of a murder victim or someone who had died of drugs overdose. NSUC appealed to the people not to let such incidents happen again in the future.
In a release issued by its president Sk Joseph Lamkang, NSUC expressed appreciation and commended the efforts undertaken by the Chandel police to identify the body and ascertain the facts behind the death.
