BJP's Nitin Gadkari, Congress' Rahul Gandhi to hold public meetings in Manipur today

BJP Union minister Nitin Gadkari and Congress leader Rahul Gandhi will be arriving in Imphal on Monday to hold poll meetings and rally for their respective party and candidates in the state.

As political parties intensified election campaign in Manipur with barely a week left for the first phase of 12th state Assembly elections 2022 to take place, several national political leaders have been making a landing in the state and campaigning for their respective poll candidates and parties. Continuing with the campaign, BJP Union minister Nitin Gadkari and Congress leader Rahul Gandhi will be arriving in Imphal on Monday to rally for their respective party and candidates.

"Union Minister Shri@nitin_gadkari ji will address public meetings in Manipur on February 21, 2022. #Vote4BJP #BJP4Manipur," the office of Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari tweeted along with a poster announcing the visit.

Gadkari will be holding public meetings at Mission Ground, Alung Tang, Ukhrul at 12:15 pm and at Moreh Public Ground, Tengnoupal at 2.30 pm.

Rahul Gandhi, who will be in the state for two days, is scheduled to visit the Shaheed Minar at BT Park and the Nupi Lal Memorial complex and pay tribute to all the departed souls of the freedom fighters of Manipur, according to a reliable source.

After visiting the two locations, he will be addressing a political gathering at Hatta Kangjeibung, Imphal East. Following which, he will be meeting the leaders of MPCC at its office at BT Road, Imphal and return to Delhi from the Bir Tikendrajit Airport, the sources said.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to visit the state on February 22, to address a public meeting at Luwangpokpa Multi Sports Complex, Imphal at 9:30 am, party sources said.

Elections to the 60-member seats for the Manipur Legislative Assembly 2022 will be held in two phases, with the first phase scheduled on 28 and the second phase of elections on March 5. The counting of votes will take place on March 10.
