Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) national president JP Nadda will be visiting Manipur on October 9-10 to discuss political strategy for the upcoming state assembly election due early next year.
Ahead of the BJP president's visit, Manipur Chief Minister N Biren on Tuesday held a meeting with cabinet ministers and ruling MLAs in Imphal to discuss the preparation for Nadda's visit.

CM Biren said in a Facebook post that Nadda's visit will be a crucial one for BJP Manipur, as he will be convening important meetings in the run up to upcoming assembly election in the state.
In the 2017 Manipur Assembly elections, the Congress had won 28 seats out of 60 while the BJP had won 21 seats. With the support of independent candidates and regional parties, the BJP had claimed 32 seats in the elections to form the first BJP-led government in Manipur.
