BJP national president JP Nadda arrives in Imphal

Nadda was accorded a warm welcome by BJP leaders of Manipur, including Chief Minister N Biren Singh, BJP state president A Sharda, BJP Manipur in-charge Sambit Patra, among others.

Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) president JP Nadda arrived in Imphal on Saturday to discuss the party's political strategy for the upcoming state assembly election due early next year.

Nadda was accorded a warm welcome by BJP leaders of Manipur, including Chief Minister N Biren Singh, BJP state president A Sharda, BJP Manipur in-charge Sambit Patra, among others. Various BJP supporters and well-wishers from different ethnic groups of Manipur also welcomed him at the exit gate of the Imphal airport.

Following his arrival, Nadda will head directly towards Utlou SAI Ground, Bishnupur to attend a public meeting of the party. Later in the evening, Nadda will be holding a review meeting of the BJP with its ministers, MLAs, MPs and other leaders at Hotel Classic Grande in Imphal in regards to the preparation of the upcoming Assembly election. He will be holding the night at the hotel.

On Saturday, he will be visiting the Shree Shree Govindajee Temple to take the blessing and inaugurate the BJP Manipur head-office at Nityapat Chuthek, Imphal West.

Later in the afternoon, Nadda will be interacting with achievers, prominent  citizens and celebrities of Manipur at the City Convention Centre in Imphal.

As per source, Nadda will be leaving Imphal from Imphal Airport on Sunday's afternoon.

The BJP president was scheduled to arrive at Imphal at 12 noon, however, due to some inconveniences, his arrival was delayed by almost one and a half hours.

Nadda's visit in the run up to the upcoming assembly election in the state will be a crucial one, as he will be convening several important meetings, Chief Minister Biren said in a recent Facebook post.  

In the 2017 Manipur Assembly elections, the Congress had won 28 seats out of 60 while the BJP won 21 seats. With the support of independent candidates and regional parties, the BJP claimed 32 seats in the elections to form the first BJP-led government in Manipur.
