BJP national spokesperson Sambit Patra arrived at Imphal on Saturday for a three-day visit to discuss filling up the vacant seat of president for BJP Manipur Pradesh.
Sambit Patra, who is also in-charge of Manipur, was received by a team of BJP Manipur Pradesh led by its vice president, K Sharatchandra on Saturday afternoon at Imphal International Airport.
Reportedly the main purpose for the visit of Sambit Patra is to discuss who will be the next president of BJP Manipur Pradesh, which has been lying vacant after the death of former president S Tikendra Singh due to COVID-19 complications.

On his arrival, he first visited the office of BJP Manipur Pradesh at Nityaipat Chuthek, Imphal West and offered a condolence prayer for the departed soul of S Tikendra Singh.
"Observed two minutes of silence and prayed for the soul of former BJP Manipur president late S Tikendra Singh at BJP Manipur State office along with state office bearers," Patra tweeted.
He then held a meeting with office bearers and Morchas president of BJP Manipur Pradesh, followed by another meeting with the state spokespersons of BJP Manipur Pradesh. Later he interacted with the district president of BJP Manipur Pradesh regarding the upcoming organisational progress.
On his second day, he is going to attend a state executive virtual meeting for BJP Manipur Pradesh and will leave Imphal on June 21.
Recently, other central leaders of BJP had also visited Imphal in connection with the appointment of president for BJP Manipur Pradesh that has been lying vacant since last month after the death of S Tikendra Singh.
