The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is the only political party which can save Manipur and its people, hence people should be cautious while electing their representatives, Chief Minister N Biren Singh said.

The chief minister was addressing a one-day political conference held at Pishum Ningom Leirak ground, Imphal West, on Saturday. He said people of the state had already witnessed the comparative situation of Manipur since India's independence and for the last four-and-half years with the coming of the BJP government.

Biren said under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the state BJP government has been implementing various initiatives regarding welfare schemes and developments both in hills and valleys. With the coming of the present government, the state's health sector, education, law and order and others are developing.

The present government gave priority to bring welfare for the people unlike the previous government that gave priority to get personal benefits, he said.

Biren also said that students of the state have much potential. However, due to lack of financial issues that they were not able to crack the UPSC examination as they cannot afford to join coaching classes at big coaching institutions like those located in Delhi.

To bring a change in the education sector, the state government has started giving UPSC entrance coaching classes by hiring qualified teachers who have been giving UPSC coaching classes outside the state here in Imphal, said Biren.
