Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) on Monday refuted allegations made by Chief Minister N Biren Singh, and claimed that “the BJP government is good for nothing. They are only concerned in breaking up India and establishing a Hindu Rashtra or Hindutva.”
Referring to a news report published on Saturday, MPCC vice president Hareshwar Goswami told the media in a press conference at Congress Bhawan that N Biren Singh raising allegations that Jawaharlal Nehru divided Manipur to become prime minister of India was highly unfortunate.
The allegations raised upon Jawaharlal Nehru were unfounded and baseless, he said.
“It seems N Biren Singh is finding it difficult to dig out any mistakes committed during the Congress regime in Manipur. This has resulted in pointing fingers at the national leaders of the party,” he said. He further clarified that Jawaharlal Nehru became the Prime Minister on August 15, 1947 while Manipur merged into the Indian union on September 15, 1949.
He further condemned the allegations in connection with the procurement of defence goods and equipment from foreign countries during the Congress regime. When India became the 6th nuclear power in the year 1974, it was during the Congress period, he said.
He further recalled that ISRO was set up in 1969 while the first Indian Satellite Aryabhata was launched in 1975. The Satellite Institutional Television Experiment (SITE) was also launched in the same year, he mentioned. The first mission to the moon, ‘Chandrayaan-I’ was launched successfully in 2008 etc. But during the BJP regime, let alone missiles or invention of new technology, even firecrackers have been imported from China, he said.
Without the help of the Chinese, the BJP India cannot build the Statue of Unity, he continued. During the BJP regime, North East India has almost become a captive market of Chinese goods, ranging from garments to grains including garlic and onions, he added.
“The BJP regime is unable to produce anything but still talk about exporting missiles as if they have developed them. This could be the biggest joke of the century,” he stated.
No remarkable work is seen so far during the BJP government at border areas even after making various promises of bringing change in the interior parts of the state, he said. “Where is the Air Dispensary Helicopter service for remote areas for which a sum of Rs 2.5 crore was sanctioned in 2017?” he questioned.
He said that MPCC had exposed numerous PMGSY scandals. But the state government is not bothered about taking actions upon the persons involved in the case, he said. Congress initiated the construction of many highways and as many as 80 bridges were built to improve connectivity, he added.
As usual, the BJP government’s role is to simply take credit by completing most of the works which were started during the Congress regime, he added. About Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA), he said that BJP’s only concern is to disintegrate India and establish a Hindu Rashtra or Hindutva. For maintaining unity and integrity of India, the Congress government had signed as many as five accords, whereas BJP has been unable to sign a single one till date, he alleged.
