The Manipur Students’ Federation (MSF) on Wednesday urged the state government to take up an intensive drive against single-use plastics which have been banned under the Manipur Plastic Policy, 2022.
MSF general secretary H Roshan told mediapersons that despite the ban imposed by the state government on single-use plastics it has been witnessed that some shops in the Imphal city area are still selling single-use plastics.

Various single-use plastic bags were confiscated by the volunteers of the MSF from four shops opened in the Jiri Parking area and Alu Gali, Imphal West, he added.
He said that it is unfortunate that none of the government enforcing agencies has taken up the drive against such single-use plastic.
Pointing out that single-use plastics are a factor leading to climate change, environment degradation, he appealed to the government to effectively incorporate the regulatory framework and action plan for complete elimination of single-use plastics from the state.
