The Makhuam (Marangjing) village and Charoi Pandongba village have lifted the ban imposed on NF-Railway construction work after a MoU was signed on Tuesday between the two villages and the Manipur government.
The state team was represented by HAC chairman Dipu Gangmei and Deputy Chief Engineer NF-Railway Imphal, Samuel. The agreement was signed following consent of the concerned Railway Minister, Government of India.
It may be mentioned that the construction work had been stopped for completely two years since December 2022, due to non release of the compensation for the damage and loss of public properties by the massive landslide that occurred in the midnight of July 29, 2022.
The MoU for release of compensation for the affected families was signed between the concerned officials of the NF-Railways, Noney District Administration, Makhuam (Marangjing) and Charoi Pandongba village leaders.
Speaking on the sidelines, HAC chairman Dipu Gangmei and the Railway authorities expressed heartfelt condolences to the affected families of the Marangjing landslide. He stressed the need for cooperation between CSOs, villagers and the NF Railway Ministry to ensure swift access to essential commodities amid the ongoing crisis.
The construction of the railway project resumed following interventions by Chief Minister N Biren Singh, Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw, and MLA of Nungba Assembly Constituency, Dinganglung Gangmei. This development marks a significant step towards a brighter future for the region, he added.
Village leaders of Marangjing and Charoi Pandongba village, representatives of Noney District Administrations and RF-Railway Officials were present on the occasion.
