Bail hearing of Mayang Imphal gangrape and murder case deferred

The court has fixed the next hearing on October 15.

Bail hearing of three among six accused arrested in connection with the Mayang Imphal gangrape and murder case has been deferred to October 15 as the counsels of the accused were not present on Thursday.

A large number of people, including JAC members gathered in front of the Cheirap Court complex, Uripok and staged a sit-in protest, demanding befitting punishment for the accused by denying bail prayer.

As the counsels of the three accused were not present before the Special Judge (POCSO), Imphal West, the court fixed the next hearing on October 15.

It may be mentioned that the accused namely, Md Feji alias Mohammad, 22, son of Md Sanayai of Mayang Imphal Bengoon Mamang Leikai; Md Salim, 21, son of Majahar Chesam of Heibong Makhong Mathak Leikai and Md Noor Mohammad, 20, son of Md Kalam of Heibong Makhong Mathak Leikai had filed bail prayer in the case.
