Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav: Campaign on Pan India Awareness and Outreach continues

A cycle rally and tree plantation programme was organised by District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) Thoubal.

As a part of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav: Campaign on Pan India Awareness and Outreach, District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) of Thoubal and Churachandpur organised cycle rally, tree plantation programme and bike rally.

A cycle rally and tree plantation programme was organised by District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) Thoubal in collaboration with Manipur Legal Services Authority under the aegis of National Legal Services Authority on Saturday.

The cycle Rally started from Khongjom War Memorial Complex to District and Sessions Court at Khangabok, Thoubal district.

The programme was attended by High Court of Manipur judge and MASLSA executive chairman, Justice Kh Nobin; Thoubal District and Sessions judge and Thoubal DLSA chairman, Binny Ngangom; MASLSA member secretary, Ojesh Mutum; Thoubal SP, Jogeshchandra Haobijam; Imphal West civil judge (Senior Division), Sonykumar Nepram; MASLSA deputy member secretary, S Sadanand; Thoubal civil judge (Senior Division), A Shanta Devi; DLSA Thoubal secretary (in-charge), Sharda Yengkhom; JMFC, Thoubal, Bonny Laishram; JMFC, Kakching MJS-III (Trainee), L Dijendra; Thoubal additional PP, Kh Arunkumar; Thoubal Bar Association vice president; Legal Aid Clinic, Kakching, Heirok, Samaram, staffs of District and Sessions Court, Thoubal, prosecution staff, police personnel and students.

An interaction session between the judge and other participants was also carried out during the programme.

Meanwhile, a bike rally 'Ride for Equality' was jointly organised by District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) Churachandpur, Churachandpur Battalion Assam Rifles and Eimi Riders Manipur, sponsored by Manipur State Legal Services Authority under the aegis of National Legal Services Authority.

During the programme, chief judicial magistrate cum Churachandpur DLSA secretary, Janggoulen Haokip delivered a welcome speech. Later, special invitees, 25 Assam Rifles commandant, Col Vikas Saha and N Keertichand gave their speeches on the importance of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav.

A total of 31 riders participated in the bike rally on Saturday from 9:30 am covering a distance of 150 km. The bike rally will pass through 30 villages as part of the outreach campaign and the importance of free legal aid and legal services institutions will be deliberated.

Pamphlets on Section-12 in five different tribal languages were handed over to Eimi Riders Manipur president for distribution to the villages covered by the court complex of Churachandpur to Thanlon.
