Awareness programme to make Thoubal free from drugs and substance abuse

An awareness programme on ‘drugs and substance abuse’ was held at  Khangabok Awang Leikai in Thoubal district on  Wednesday.

In a bid to make Thoubal district free from drugs and alcoholism, a one-day awareness programme on ‘drugs and substance abuse’ was held at  Khangabok Awang Leikai in Thoubal district on  Wednesday.

Senior counsellor of Integrated Rehabilitation Centre for Addicts (IRCA), Thoubal Pakhangkhong, Oken Naoriya, who was invited as resource person of the programme, pointed out that drug and alcohol addiction causes both physical and economic loss and gain no respect in the society. Physical, mental and spiritual rehabilitation is required for every recovering addict, he added.

Athokpam Ratan appealed to the people to stop abusing drugs and avoid all kinds of dependence which are harmful to health.

The programme was jointly organised by Nasha Mukt Bharat Campaign Committee and Khangabok Part-I Gram Panchayat following the necessary SOPs of COVID-19 and it was attended by Up-Pradhan, Athokpam Ratan and DSWO Thoubal, A Kameshwar attended as chief guest and president respectively. It was also attended by 90 females and 30 males of the area.
