A two-day awareness programme on Disaster Management organised by the department of Relief and Disaster Management Government in collaboration with the Laipham Khunou Youth Development Association (LKYDA) at Laipham Khunou Mayai Leikai, Imphal East concluded on Thursday.
During the programme, experts of SDRF Manipur imparted training to the public regarding first aid, fire fighting, rescue techniques and the immediate response to any disaster besides other techniques.
Speaking on the occassion, team commander of SDRF Okram Achouba stated that the aim of the exercise was to build a culture of disaster preparedness and resilience among public. He said the training will allow public not only to save themselves but will also act as first responders at the time of any disaster.
The two-day training will help the public to handle emergency cases during any disaster, including fire incident, earthquake and floods and others, he added.
LKYDA general secretary Ngasepam Rakeshwor in his speech appreciated the efforts of trainers and the audience alike in utilising the time to learn about immediate response to any natural or manmade disasters.
Such training programme will help the public in better preparing in dealing with disasters so that they become first responders and help in saving lives of themselves and other people around, he added.
