Awareness campaign through multi utility mobile van conducted

During the mobile awareness programme, a total of around 1,253 people were interacted and they were provided awareness on availability of free legal aid and services.

The District Legal Services Authority (DLSA), Imphal West, in collaboration with Manipur State Legal Services Authority (MASLSA) under the aegis of National Legal Services Authority (NLSA), conducted a legal awareness campaign as a part of the NALSA’s Legal Awareness and Outreach Campaign by deployment of Multi Utility Mobile Van of MASLSA on Sunday.

The programme was flagged off by the Judge, High Court of Manipur justice Kh and executive chairman, MASLSA, on Friday in the presence of chairman, DLSA, Imphal West A Guneshwar Sharma;  chairperson, DLSA, Imphal East RK Memcha Devi;  member secretary, MASLSA Ojesh Mutum;  secretary, DLSA, Imphal East N Lanleima; Chief Judicial Magistrate, Imphal West Y Somorjit Singh and deputy member secretary, MASLSA S Sadananda at High Court of Manipur, Judges’ Guest House, Khoyathong, Imphal West, Manipur.

The awareness campaign at Imphal West was led by District and Sessions Judge, Imphal West A Guneshwar Sharma, accompanied by Salam Devananda (Devan), media coordinator Rk Imoba, remand lawyer, Y Kalmark, para legal, Moirangthem Chumba etc.

The Awareness Campaign through the mobile van covered various villages of Imphal West such as Samurou Bazar, Samurou Social Development Club, Samurou Naorem, Wangoi Bazar, Laxmi Bazar, Sekmaijin, Mayang Imphal Police Station by way of explaining about the legal provisions, answering legal queries of the public, distributing pamphlets, etc.

During the campaign, theme songs of NLSA and MASLSA, documentaries were played and shown to the public at various stoppages. Pamphlets, posters containing information about contact details of Legal Services Institutions and availability of free legal services were distributed to the public.
