The All Tousem Student Union (ATSU) in a statement strongly opposed and condemned one Zebedee Panmei and his associates under the alleged leadership of MLA of Tamenglong assembly constituency, for allegedly conducting a signature campaign of landowners under Tousem Sub-Division for demanding compensation discreetly.
In a statement, ATSU stated that the people and landowners had invited the government to construct Tamenglong- Mahur (NH-137) road by promising and assuring the government to give land and standing property free of cost.
The people and land owners in the hope of having a better connectivity and a lifeline for Tousem Sub-Division have given their full consent and sacrificed their land and standing property free of cost willingly and unanimously for construction of Tamenglong-Mahur road, ATSU stated.
ATSU fully endorse and support the stand of the people and land owners of Tousem, it mentioned.
“However, the union cannot allow a few people with vested interest led by an outsider to manipulate innocent few land owners of Tousem to append their signatures for demanding compensation by giving false narrative and incorrect information,” it mentioned.
ATSU appeals to all landowners not to give-in to the lies and empty promises of those people with vested interests considering the compensation matter of Tamenglong - Mahur road, it stated.
“It is to remind all landowners that your selfish action of retracting your given commitment and NOCs for giving land and standing property on zero compensation to the government for Tamenglong – Mahur road will amount to breach of agreement, trust and confidence. This may have a ripple effect and serious implications in future,” it added.
Furthermore, ATSU appeals to all compensation experts concerned to avoid unnecessary meddling into the affairs of the Tousem Sub-Division and ongoing Tamenglong-Mahur road project.
ATSU stated that for any action initiated in defiance of the stand, they shall be held solely responsible for any unwanted consequences.
