ATEREC celebrates 20th Foundation Day

Lamlai assembly MLA Khongbantabam Ibomcha appealed to students and civil bodies in Manipur not to impose restrictions on creativity and freedom of artistes in the state

Lamlai assembly MLA cum chairman of Manipur Handlooms and Handicrafts Development Corporation Khongbantabam Ibomcha on Monday asserted that artists play a crucial role in correcting unwanted deviations and guiding the society towards an ideal way of existence.

The MLA stated the same while speaking at the 20th Foundation Day celebration of Artiste Training cum Educational Research Centre (ATEREC) held at Leimayol Arts Centre (LAC), Singjamei Chingamakha.

Ibomcha maintained that Manipur’s unique art and culture has enabled the state to assert itself on the world stage. “The state’s unique cultural heritage is its pride and jewel”, he added.

The MLA also appealed to students and civil bodies in Manipur not to impose restrictions on creativity and freedom of artistes in the state. “The freedom to express is what makes art remarkable and magical”, he said.

He also extended gratitude to ATEREC for striving to safeguard and preserve the state’s unique culture and exhorting the growth of budding talents in Manipur.

During the celebration, a book entitled ‘Amuktadi Noklammu’, written by KC Mangang, was also released. 

ATEREC president Sobita Soubam, social activist Konjengbam Dilip, Leimarol Khorjeikol (LEIKOL) President Ksh Subadani, Retd DI/DDO Thoubal zone-III Takhellambam Bikomdas Meetei and Khori Ehul editor Sanasam Nabadwip among others attended the celebration.
