Association voices for unity among home guards

A special general body meeting of the All Manipur Home Guard’s Employee Welfare Association was held at GM Hall in Imphal on Sunday.

The All Manipur Home Guard’s Employee Welfare Association on Sunday called for unity among all the home guards in the state and to work together for the welfare of all the home guards.

A special general body meeting of the association was held at GM Hall in Imphal on Sunday.

Delivering the keynote address, association secretary Kh Inaobi Devi recalled the hurdles faced by the home guards personnel while trying to get the monthly pay of Rs 22,806 which is now being enjoyed by all the personnel.

She pointed out that some individuals are trying to tarnish the image of the association which has been fighting for the rights and welfare of the home guard personnel.  She apprised all the home guards to stay alert and away from those anti-social individuals who work only in self interest.

President of the association Y Mangi Singh called on the home guards personnel to stay committed to their duties by giving their full efforts in maintaining the law and order situation of the state.

He stressed on the need for a separate general commander of Home Guard and the requirement for the introduction of a pension scheme as well as an increase in ration money, DA, etc. he said.  “We hope that the state government will do the necessary,” he added.  

Personnel of home guards who had given their immense contribution in uplifting the status of the home guards in the state were also honoured during the programme.

Vice-president of the association P Chandrakumar and S Prabhabhati Devi also attended the programme as presidium members.
