Phundrei and Mantripukhri Battalions of Assam Rifles under the aegis of IGAR (S) in joint operations with Manipur Police apprehended two cadres of the proscribed PLA and KCP in two separate operations in Thoubal and Imphal East on Sunday, stated a release issued by IGAR (South).
Based on specific inputs, troops of Assam Rifles along with Manipur Police launched these operations which led to the apprehensions, it stated. The KCP cadre was involved in planting an IED at Khurai on Sunday, it mentioned.
The apprehended cadres were handed over to Thoubal and Porompat Police Stations for further investigation, it added.
Meanwhile, Sajik Tampak battalion of Assam Rifles under the aegis of IGAR (S) rescued 24 passengers, including three children and extended life saving medical assistance to road accident victims near Old Bethel Village, District Chandel on November 12, IGAR (South) further stated.
It stated that at around 4.30 pm, a Bolero Pick Up vehicle with 24 passengers, including three children lost control, while reversing near a steep slope and plunged into the gorge. On receipt of information, a team of Assam Rifles rushed to the spot, launched a rescue operation, and successfully rescued all trapped passengers, it added.
The accident victims were then rushed to the Assam Rifles Company Operational Base at Aigejang and were rendered emergency medical aid to stabilise the injured, it mentioned. On stabilising the condition of the injured, they were referred to Sugnu Hospital for further medical treatment, it added.
