The proscribed Kanglei Yawol Kanna Lup (KYKL) on Sunday clarified that reports made by media on June 30 of an active KYKL cadre named Yaikhom Janendra alias Janensing, 38, son of the late Yaikhom Sidam, being arrested by a team of Imphal West Commando during a search operation in his village is untrue and without any basis in fact.

Yaikhom Janendro is an innocent person who has no connection to the activities of the organisation, KYKL stated in a release issued by its publicity and research, deputy secretary M Loya Khuman.

It stated that using his arrest as an example, “one can see how Indian colonial masters and their allies use it as a tool to perpetuate colonialism in ‘Kangleipak’ (Manipur) and to violate the democratic rights that Kanglei people hold dear.”

The people are informed to keep an eye out and defend themselves from these colonial designs, it added.
