A combined team of district commando, Bishnupur and 16th Assam Rifles recovered a large number of arms and ammunition on Tuesday from a farmland area located at Kodompokpi, Imphal West.
The arms and ammunition were recovered during a combined search operation conducted at the area.
One 0.32 pistol with 2 magazines; one 0.22 piston with 1 magazine; one local made 12 bore rifle; one Chinese hand grenade; one radio handset; 47 live bullets of AK rifle; 24 live bullets of M-16 rifle; 6 live bullets of 9mm; 2 live bullets of 12 bore rifle; 4 live bullets of 0.38 pistol; 2 live bullets of 0.32 pistol were seized from under a bamboo grove near a farm hut.
Police reported that the farm belongs to one Thongam Angou Meitei, son of late Th Thambal of Kodompokpi Mayai Leikai.
The seized items were handed over to Nambol police station for further investigation. A case has been registered at the said police station.
